The Collective Embroidery

During the opening of the exhibition Bordar el Desborde, at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Santiago in the spring of 2019, the work team is informed of the reappearance, after 47 years missing, of the Collective Embroidery de las Bordadoras de Isla Negra. This team takes the responsibility and commitment to inform the authors and collaborate with them in disseminating and enhancing this magnificent work’s artistic and cultural enhancement.  The reunion of the work with the authors is organized in Isla Negra in May 2022 and, with the collaboration of GAM and the sponsorship of the Neruda Foundation and the Eladio Sobrino Foundation, the Collective Embroidery Vuelve a Casa y Sale al Mundo (Returns Home and Goes Out into the World) exhibition is held at the Casa Museo Isla Negra between December 7, 2023, and January 8, 2024.  This exhibition is dedicated to the embroiderers, their families, and the community of Isla Negra.

This exhibition was planned to continue at the Palacio Baburizza in Valparaíso during the summer of 2024, a tour that will be postponed until the summer of 2025, when the artwork finishes its participation in the Venice Biennale 2024, between April and October 2024.
